This particular shoot was an interesting one for both me and this muse. For one reason or another I decided to reach out to Natalya, who's a fellow Toronto-based photographer, for a portrait shoot. Not only did her Instagram gallery intrigue me, but I had the crazy idea of asking her to be the one in front of my camera and to model for a change. I trekked it all the way Bayview, which is more on the north side of Toronto, to shoot at her condo while also getting the chance to shoot her in the building's indoor pool.
Luckily, it was a good experience to see if the two of us could see eye to eye with a final product. We do differ slightly in photography styles but our philosophies couldn't be more similar. Even though she felt a little out of place at times, as far as not being able to see the immediate playback of the shoot, she was reassured knowing well that we shoot the same way on set. Good vibes only!
She did enjoy the challenge of being on the opposite side of the lens, however at times couldn't initially imagine the moody look I was going for. We got pretty creative with the minimal light that gloomy afternoon. Natalya is more of a outdoor light portrait artist and really exceeds the colours in her work. You can check out her stuff on her on her IG here. Natalya's not only a bomb photographer, but she's a pretty dope model too! See her do her thing in the gallery below!
